Going All Out For Your Senior Session | Tips for Hair, Makeup & Wardrobe

Senior

Your senior year marks a milestone that you’ll remember for the rest of your life. It’s a combination of a moment you’ve long awaited for and a season of life you’ll long to remember. Senior sessions play such an important role in capturing this time in your life. Senior photos are cherished by loved ones in the present and loved ones in future generations. Looking your best for your senior session isn’t a decision you’ll soon regret now or later! My best advice? Go all out! Invest in the works – hair, makeup and wardrobe and your senior pictures will undoubtedly turn out phenomenally.

Get Your Hair Styled

Your hair is defining feature and we all know that if you’re having a good hair day, your confidence level is through the roof! Confidence captures beautifully on camera! I highly recommend investing in having your hair done for your senior session. When you book your hair appointment, make sure you allow for plenty of time to make it to your scheduled photography session on time!

Whether you invest in a cut, color or a simple trim and style, stick to something you know you love. Right before your session may not be the best time to experiment! Simply give your hair a refresh and have it styled for you. Beautiful blown out curls or a sleek style works perfect. Just make sure it reflects your personality best and consider if the hairstyle pairs well with your wardrobe.

Have Your Makeup Done

Make your senior session a day for pampering! Invest in having your makeup done in addition to your hair. Makeup artists know how to apply your make up in a way that will photograph best! Be sure to let your makeup artist know what you plan to wear so they can work their magic accordingly! Go with a make up look that still feels like you whether it’s a more dramatic or a more natural look! Once again, allow for plenty of time to make it to your photography session on time.

Choose More Than One Outfit

My biggest piece of advice for your senior session is to prepare multiple outfits for your photos! Having variety in your wardrobe allows you to showcase multiple sides of your personality and interests. Choose a beautiful flowy dress, a casual pair of shorts AND a bold stylish outfit! Different outfits allow you to have different poses and more interest in your session gallery. Poses you can do in a dress are different from poses a pair of pants would allow for! Shoot for flattering color palettes and patterns and stay true to your personal style!

Add Fun Accessories

Your senior session is an opportunity to add fun pieces to your wardrobe that create fun layers and visual interest to your images. Wear that fun, stylish hat! Adorn yourself with that fun necklace. Put on that sweater or jacket with a cool texture! Wear those bold, colorful earrings. Adding pieces like this to your wardrobe makes your outfits more interesting and your images pop. Don’t be afraid to go extra!
